Amy – Owner of Hairy Hounds Dog Grooming and Training Academy Ltd

Dogs have always been a central part of my life—starting with two imaginary companions who followed me everywhere as a child, to now sharing my home with four lively miniature poodles. My passion for dogs has grown into a lifelong commitment to their care, training, and grooming.

With nearly 10 years of professional dog grooming experience and over 7 years teaching in Further Education, I’ve combined my hands-on expertise with a strong foundation in instruction and mentorship. Throughout my teaching career, I’ve been proud to receive multiple awards recognising my dedication and excellence in education.

Before launching my own academy, I successfully ran a dog walking, pet sitting, and grooming business—building trusted relationships with both pets and their people. I also spent many years as a licensed and registered breeder of Staffordshire Bull Terriers, gaining in-depth knowledge of canine care and breed-specific needs. Though I sadly lost my last two Staffies earlier this year, they continue to inspire my journey.

Hairy Hounds Dog Grooming and Training Academy Ltd is the realisation of a long-held dream. Known for my keen eye for detail and supportive teaching style, I’m committed to bringing out the very best in every learner—helping them grow in skill, confidence, and passion for the industry.

At Hairy Hounds, we offer Ofqual-regulated iPET Network courses in dog grooming for learners aged 16+, from 5-day workshops to 30-day full qualifications. Our state-of-the-art training facility and award-winning tutor—with over 7 years of teaching experience—ensure students receive expert, hands-on training in a real-world environment.
